Middleham's Liam Bailey came away from the sales with an empty basket, but has some more spending money after How Bizarre showed how tough he now is in the 7f handicap under Kevin Stott, who rides the fancied Diamond Jubilee winner Hello Youmzain in Saturday's Darley July Cup at Newmarket.

That is a level Bailey, who started training last year, would one day like to be involved at, but, for now, he was just delighted to see How Bizarre prevail.

"Things have gone really well since I took out my licence," he said, speaking from Newmarket, where he attended the Tattersalls July Sale.
