When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

Persistent rain and testing ground made it a demanding day for runners, riders and even racegoers, but it was champion jockey Richard Johnson who rose to the challenge with a 22-1 four-timer, while his mother Susan was also on the mark as she saddled The Last Bridge to win the final race on the card.

An aggregate distance of 167½ lengths for the four winners proved stamina was key, something which Johnson is showing in abundance as he bids to gain back-to-back titles.
