Hornby in heaven as hurdles win on The Game fufils boyhood dream
School holidays spent at Henry Daly's and work experience with Jonjo O'Neill paid off for Rob Hornby when he steered The Game Is A Foot to a five-length win in Lingfield's annual Flat jockeys handicap hurdle.
It helped no doubt that the Zoe Davison-trained ten-year-old was 8lb well in as he had no penalty for last week's Plumpton win, but Hornby was more of a help than a hindrance and thoroughly enjoyed his first experience of a job he once coveted.
The 22-year-old, who has had 116 winners on the Flat, said: "I've done plenty of hunting and team chasing and I have a jumps background, but at seven stone I was too light and was always being run away with, so I went to Andrew Balding's.
