Danilo D'Airy defies monster 52lb rise to strike again for thrilled Sheehan
Danilo D'Airy, who landed a big gamble when winning at the track 11 days ago from 38lb out of the handicap, defied a massive 52lb rise from the handicapper to score at Warwick again in the 3m1½f handicap chase.
The eight-year-old was in theory 14lb higher than last time but was once again enthusiastic and dominated from the start.
His jumping was electric under Gavin Sheehan and although Max Dynamo, who finished second last time, closed up momentarily around the home turn, he could not get close and was beaten three and a quarter lengths.
Warwick winner who was backed from 100-1 hit with 52lb increase by handicapper
Sheehan was back aboard the horse after finishing fourth and last in a 1m7½f novice hurdle in December and said: "I got some spin off him, he was brilliant.
"I loved the way he jumped, he was class. When I watch the replay back they came to me and I felt a bit of pressure underneath me. Then all of a sudden I had three jumps to go and I was out four lengths clear again.
"I think those five jumps in a row helped him, he can fill up around the bend and then you've got two more jumps."
Four for Fidelio
The Paul Nicholls-trained Fidelio Vallis has made a smooth transition to chasing and he made it four from four over fences with a four-length win in the 2m handicap chase, finding plenty for pressure under Bryony Frost.
