Every trainer needs a Saturday horse or two, and just two days after Remiluc unseated his rider in the Welsh Champion Hurdle, Chris Gordon was back after easy Newton Abbot bumper winner Highway One O One confirmed himself a smart prospect by making short work of a decent field in the maiden hurdle.

A five-year-old from the family of Champion Hurdle winners Morley Street and Granville Again, and carrying the Ward-Thomas colours of former Champion Chase winner Martha's Son, Highway One O One ticks plenty of boxes and made virtually all, coming home eight lengths clear of 104-rated Flat horse Cohesion.

"He's a proper horse, and getting one like this changes the whole game for us," enthused the trainer, whose wife Jenny rides Highway One O One every morning.
