In the weakening sun behind the parade ring, Philip Hide unsaddled a runner for the last time, his decision to stop training now a reality.

"I'm out of the stables on Sunday morning," said the former jump jockey as Black Caesar was washed down after finishing unplaced in the 1m1f handicap.

"It's been a long winding down so it's not raw any more. It's an expensive business having horses in training and it's got to be productive.
