'He's a monster' - but there could be a few monsters in next year's Gold Cup

As Allaho was making sober horses, seriously talented ones at that, look punch drunk up the Punchestown home straight, it was hard not to let your mind wander to March of next year. St Patrick's Day to be precise.

If he didn't stay, as so many feared beforehand, he did a damn good job of disguising it. It turns out his relentless galloping lasted for three miles anyway and it is hard to believe he wouldn't have won a rollicking Punchestown Gold Cup if there were another two furlongs added on.

You know what that means? Allaho has now thrown his name into the hat for the 2023 Cheltenham Gold Cup, and that is a hat that already contains the likes of Galopin Des Champs, Ahoy Senor, L'Homme Presse, Stattler and maybe even Monkfish. Oh, and A Plus Tard. I almost forgot him and the fact he won this year's race by 15 gigantic lengths.
