'He's a lovely horse' - Evan Williams maintains hot form with Fado Des Brosses
Evan Williams unleashed another promising type for long-time supporters William and Angela Rucker when Fado Des Brosses won the 3m1f beginners' chase under Adam Wedge.
The five-year-old put in an assured round of jumping on his second chase start to continue a delightful December for the trainer and owners following victories with Bold Plan, Star Gate and Secret Reprieve, who is 5-1 favourite for this month's Coral Welsh Grand National.
"He's a lovely young horse, who had been biding time over hurdles until he went over fences," Williams said of the 100-30 winner. "He's got a lot to learn as he's still very young, but he's obviously got the raw ability. He's an out-and-out stayer for the future."
Fado Des Brosses, who cost £200,000 at the Cheltenham sales last year, provided the in-form trainer with a seventh success in the last fortnight.
It was a second win for Wedge since he returned from a broken collarbone last week after he partnered the Williams-trained Annsam to victory at Ludlow on Wednesday.
Half-century up
Sam Twiston-Davies notched his 50th winner of the season on Undersupervision, who is trained by his father Nigel for new owners Anne-Marie and Jamie Shepperd.
Bought for £130,000 last month after winning an Irish point in October, Undersupervision made a pleasing debut with a strong staying display in the 3m1½f novice hurdle.
Twiston-Davies became the sixth jockey to reach the half-century mark this season with reigning champion Brian Hughes leading the title race on 74 winners, ahead of Harry Cobden on 67.
Four-time champion Richard Johnson got to 50 winners himself on Wednesday and wasted little time kicking on with a double for Philip Hobbs on short-priced favourites Keep Rolling and Demopolis.
