Boxing had the Rumble in the Jungle and the Thrilla in Manila. Racing has had the Duel on the Downs and then the Duel on the Downs before at least one more duel, also on the downs.

Now, thanks to Nicky Henderson, we may soon have the Congo in the Cotswolds.

Jump racing is supposed to be unpredictable. That has never been truer than in recent days, when what we have seen, particularly at Leopardstown, has at times seemed stranger, and on occasions sadder, than fiction.
