Hector Crouch's long journey up from Sussex paid off as he landed the biggest win of his career on Snazzy Jazzy in the William Hill Ayr Silver Cup.

The freelance, 22, was having just his fourth ride at the track on a three-year-old he won on first time out last year as a 3lb claimer.

Crouch got the 11-1 shot to the front over a furlong out and held on for a length-and-a-half success in the £60,000 consolation event, his ninth winner of the year for trainer Clive Cox.
