It was a landmark occasion for nine-year-olds Head Space and Showboating but there was no fairytale result as neither could score on their 100th start.

The John Balding-trained Showboating finished third in the £12,000 7f handicap behind impressive winner George Cinq, who is being aimed at the Betway Lincoln at Doncaster on April 1.

Balding said: “He’s run a cracker. We treat him well and he still loves it out on the track.
