'He truly is a dedicated jockey' - Bannister brings up career best with treble
Saturday: Stratford
Jockey Harry Bannister brought up a career-best season in style with a 91-1 treble.
Bannister’s afternoon started in tremendous fashion as he took the opening handicap chase with ease aboard the Richard Bandey-trained Give Me A Moment, winning by 31 lengths. The duo then teamed up again as handicap debutant Ernie Bilko landed the 2m6f handicap hurdle.
Bandey said: "I’m really pleased to provide Harry with the horses that brought up a career best. He deserves every bit of the success that he has, he truly is a dedicated jockey who does all his homework."
The Hampshire-based trainer, who is also enjoying his best ever season, was full of praise for Bannister, adding: "I don’t need to give him any riding instructions, he knows exactly how he's going to ride them, we always agree on that.
"He’s been putting loads of effort into us at home, he helps out with our planning, our strategies and where we are going to go. He puts his opinions about the horses across whether he has ridden them at home or we’re at the races, and that has paid dividends."
Bannister brought up his third on the day in the feature 2m6½f handicap chase aboard the Toby Lawes-trained Kap Auteuil. The jockey took himself to 45 for the season, virtually making all aboard the seven-year-old.
