'He has the pace of a train' - Rod Millman relieved as Airshow ends winless run
Sunday: Bath
There was a sense of relief for Rod Millman as Airshow provided the trainer with a first winner since February when landing the 5f handicap.
The seven-year-old powered clear inside the final two furlongs to register a third win at Bath and a fifth victory since rejoining the Devon handler in 2020.
Having spent the winter on the all-weather, a return to form on the turf was welcomed by Millman.
"He was quite a good three-year-old for us and then he was sold for quite a bit of money," said the trainer. "He's come back to us now he's older, and it’s nice to get a win.
"He's a very genuine horse and he has the pace of a train. We haven’t had a winner on the board for a while, so hopefully that will give the other horses a bit of incentive to run better."
Cox eyes progress
Lambourn trainer Clive Cox is confident that Regal Envoy will come on again following his victory in the 5½f maiden.
The three-year-old was going one better after finishing a short-head second at Wolverhampton last month.
Cox said: "He's still very much a work in progress and it’s great to do that in a lesser race. It's very pleasing and it'll do his confidence the world of good.
"I like him. He had a bit of a hold up in his early stages of training, but I couldn't be more pleased with the way he's come back and it's very positive."
