Saturday marked the final day of the British Flat season at Doncaster, while the Badger Beers Silver Trophy led the day's best jumps action from Wincanton and Aintree. Our team have picked out their names to note from a decent day's action.

'He's certainly a rising star'

There aren't many chasers improving as quickly as Ga Law, who recorded his fourth win from five starts by a whopping 22 lengths in the Rising Stars Novices' Chase at Wincanton. He's certainly a rising star, that's for sure. An enthusiastic racer, Ga Law jumps extremely well for such a lightly raced, young horse and achieved a Racing Post Rating of 152 for that decisive victory over Hurricane Harvey, with favourite Grand Sancy a distant third after making a bad error down the back straight. The race may have fallen apart but the winner has a huge future and seems to handle quick and slow ground.

'This didn't look far off a career-best'

I was surprised Summerville Boy was able to give 6lb and a beating to the 155-rated Ch'tibello on his return at Aintree. The eight-year-old dug in deep when asked and this didn't look far off a career-best. With classy hurdlers Call Me Lord and Thomas Darby further back, this was a Grade 2 in all but name. On this evidence, Summerville Boy could be set for a productive campaign.

'He deserves to go up in grade now'

Wilde About Oscar has been spoken about in the same breath as last season's Weatherbys Champion Bumper fourth Third Time Lucki by trainer Dan Skelton and you could see why at Aintree. The pair, who are owned by Mike and Eileen Newbould, have each won two novice hurdles this season, with Wilde About Oscar following up his Uttoxeter success with a totally dominant 16-length victory under a penalty in the 2m4f contest at the Merseyside track. It might have been an ordinary race, but he was given a first show quote of 33-1 for Ballymore Novices' Hurdle by Paddy Power and deserves to go up in grade now.

'He's capable of landing a nice prize on decent ground'

It is hard to say whether Sizing At Midnight would definitely have won the Badger Beers had he stood up, but things were looking pretty good for him at the time and let's hope he's none the worse for the fall as he's on a pretty good mark. At least he can't go up much in the weights now. He's clearly a typical late maturer for the Tizzard yard and is capable of landing a nice prize on decent ground.
