'He could be really special' - in-form Snowden impressed with Uttoxeter winner
Sunday: Uttoxeter
Jamie Snowden is showing no signs of slowing down this season as Passing Well provided the trainer with a fifth winner of the week.
The five-year-old, who was a £185,000 purchase at the Goffs UK Spring sale in May, made the perfect start to his career in Lambourn after winning the opening 2m4f maiden hurdle.
Snowden said: "He was brilliant and it was a lovely performance on his debut for us. He's a really smashing individual and he could be really special.
"Him and the runner-up were a long way clear of the third [Harjo], who had a run under his belt, as did the second horse, but it was a really good performance."
Passing Well’s length-and-a-quarter victory over Issuing Authority was Snowden’s 26th winner of the campaign, and the trainer is pleased the hard work is paying off.
He said: "We’re having a wonderful time of it, especially in these last six weeks. Winning the Paddy Power was great and we’ve had five winners from eight runs this week, so it’s great to see everyone in top form."
Skeltons strike
Fresh from enjoying his first Grade 1 win since April 2021, Dan Skelton returned to the winner's enclosure to collect the prize as Kateira justified favouritism in the 2m mares' novice hurdle.
The five-year-old was making only her third start for the yard, but recorded her second win in emphatic fashion as she finished seven and a half lengths clear of Fay Ce Que Voudras.
Promising chaser
The Ben Case-trained Fern Hill produced a powerful turn of foot to land a first victory over fences in the feature 2m6½f handicap chase.
