Harrington's golden spell goes on as Leo De Fury denies Fleeting at the Curragh
Leo De Fury continued Jessica Harrington's excellent start to the season by accounting for classy filly Fleeting by three lengths under Shane Foley in the Group 2 Coolmore Magna Grecia Irish EBF Mooresbridge Stakes at the Curragh.
The Joseph O'Brien-trained Numerian was third and Search For A Song, who secured the Irish St Leger as a three-year-old for Dermot Weld last season, faded out of contention off a strong gallop set by outsider Effernock Fizz.
Aidan O'Brien has farmed the Mooresbridge in recent years, with recent Ballydoyle stars Camelot, Found, Minding and Magical contributing to nine victories for the yard in the last ten seasons.
However, it was apparent some way from home that the stable's sole representative and perennial bridesmaid Fleeting would be unable to join the illustrious roll of honour on her return despite shaping well in finishing a clear runner-up.
Leo De Fury saw out the 1m2½f trip strongly and is under consideration for the Tattersalls Gold Cup back at the Curragh in July.
Kate Harrington, assistant trainer to Jessica told Racing TV: "I couldn't believe how easily he did it and I couldn't get over how much he's developed and grown over the winter. He looks an exciting horse and the Tattersalls Gold Cup could be his next aim."
The son of Australia was a progressive colt last season, scoring on his debut at the Curragh in June before succumbing to the high-class Buckhurst by a head in the Royal Whip Stakes.
