For the second consecutive year Richard Hannon saddled the winner of the mile juvenile maiden run in memory of the late Dorothy Mort, Hushood showing great tenacity to repel the attentions of odds-on favourite Good Omen.

Mort’s husband David was on hand and said: “Dorothy rarely missed a meeting at this course and was involved in many good horses over the years, such as Maringo, who won the 1979 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, and prolific winning sprinter Montendre to name just two.

“This is the second year we've sponsored the race in her memory and once again Richard Hannon has won it as he was successful with Taqwaa 12 months ago. I could not be more pleased for Richard as we go back a long way and I hope he'll come back and win the race again next year as well.”
