The term flagship horse rung in its truest sense when Fergus Hanley landed the John Mulhern Handicap Hurdle with the only horse that resides at his Claregalway-based stables, The Black Russian.

The ten-year-old seems to have only one style of running and Hanley was keen to praise the efforts of Rachel Blackmore in the saddle following his comfortable seven-length success in the feature race.

"Rachel gave him a little dinger of a ride,” said Hanley.
