Paul Hanagan is set to renew acquaintances with Massaat this week and he warmed up for the ride with victory on another Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned three-year-old in the 1m½f handicap.

Shawaahid might not be in the same bracket as the 2,000 Guineas runner-up but the Richard Hannon-trained colt, twice a winner last year, showed bags of promise on his return from a 324-day absence.

Hanagan had to survive a stewards’ inquiry after becoming embroiled in a barging match with Luke Morris on runner-up Gold Flash, but the result was never really in doubt.
