Michael Halford looks to have realistic Classic aspirations this season with Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas-bound Rehana as the filly posted a very pleasing performance in the Group 3 Athasi Stakes.

Having accounted for Rhododendron in a Curragh maiden last summer, the Aga Khan-owned filly then finished fourth behind that rival in the Group 2 Debutante Stakes and then fourth behind Intricatley in the Moyglare before being put away for the winter.

A promising third in the 1,000 Guineas trial at Leopardstown last month, Rehana stepped up a gear in her Classic preparation with a convincing win over Rose De Pierre, after which Halford expressed his delight.
