As a proud Yorkshireman, William Haggas loves nothing more than success at the Ebor meeting and he has reasons for optimism with Mubtasim at York in two weeks’ time.

The Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum-owned juvenile wheeled away from his 6f novice stakes rivals in the manner of a colt worthy of taking up his entry in the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Gimcrack Stakes, a race the Newmarket trainer won last season for the third time in ten years.

After Mubtasim followed up last month’s debut victory under Pat Cosgrave, Haggas said: “We would have normally run between now and Yarmouth but he had a couple of issues which are fine now.
