Gutsy Lowanbehold brightens up Forster away-day with tough victory

With heavy rain and gale-force winds it was not the weather for a day trip, but that did not stop Kelso trainer Sandy Forster bringing her entire string to Hexham and she went home with the feature 4m handicap chase after Lowanbehold's gutsy display in gruelling conditions.

Run on heavy ground over 25 fences, it was slow-motion stuff with the clock stopping at 9m 53.60s, some 50 seconds more than it took One For Arthur to win the Grand National over two and half furlongs further at Aintree in April.

But it mattered not a jot to Forster, who has three horses in training at her base deep in the Scottish Borders, as she returned to the winner's enclosure for the first time since the ten-year-old won in April last year.
