John Gosden was eager to play down the assertion that he favours stayers over milers, sprinters and anything else after Coronet showed a combination of all three qualities to register an emphatic debut win in the 1m½f fillies' maiden.

Frankie Dettori never had a moment's worry on the daughter of Dubawi, who was homebred by her owners Denford Stud.

Gosden, who the day before at the St Leger media lunch in London had spoken eloquently about breeding trends turning to speed and away from stamina, said: "Coronet is owner-bred and has plenty of speed, as she showed today.
