Good-looking Monbeg Notorious the highlight of Elliott treble

Apart from a certain week here in April when the trainers' title was snatched from his grasp, not a lot went wrong in 2017 for Gordon Elliott and, in partnership with Davy Russell, he rounded off the year in resounding fashion with a 59-1 treble.

The gorgeous-looking Monbeg Notorious may well have a future in the good long-distance handicap chases according to his trainer as he registered an ultimately commanding victory in the 3m1f beginners' chase.

Elliott said: "He loves soft ground and he'll be entered in a good staying handicap chase somewhere. I wouldn't see him running in a graded novice chase."
