The turnout for the Grade 3 BetVictor Michael Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle was disappointingly weak, but credit trainer John McConnell for the late decision to run his consistent novice Go Another One – a decision that could not have paid off more handsomely.

The son of Stowaway was top-rated in the race, gave weight all round, and proved the best horse by a decisive margin.

Once Robbie Power was able to manoeuvre him into a position where he had racing room in the straight, the race was his to lose and he was full value for his two-and-three-quarters of a length success over Tramore maiden hurdle winner Notebook.
