A return visit here for a defence of his Irish St Leger crown is very much on the cards for Order Of St George after his convincing success in the Group 3 Palmerstown House Estate Irish St Leger Trial under Donnacha O'Brien.

He has gone from strength to strength since winning this race last year, but it was not totally straightforward for the Gold Cup winner, at least before the race as he refused to go down to the start until he had got some company, and his well documented propensity to sweat freely seemed even more exaggerated this time.

Whatever happens though, he never appears to reach the point where boiling over occurs and he seemed to relax beautifully in the race, picking up well to lead over a furlong out. From there it was a matter of holding off Jim Bolger's possible Doncaster St Leger hopeful Twilight Payment by a length and a half.
