In his first ten starts Mutakayyef never finished out of the first three and was placed at Pattern level in the Tercentenary, Strensall and Darley Stakes.

But a gelding operation has been the catalyst for the 260,000gns dependable five-year-old son of Sea The Stars to progress further as he produced a career-best performance to capture this Group 2 contest.

The Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned runner unleashed a decisive turn of foot to clinically beat Dutch Connection by two and a quarters lengths and propel jockey Dane O'Neill back on to the Group-winning podium just three days after he returned from a back fracture sustained in May.
