Gary Moore pondering Greatwood Hurdle bid for talented Teddy Blue
Friday: Fontwell
Teddy Blue was trimmed by bookmakers for next Sunday's Unibet Greatwood Handicap Hurdle after a commanding success in the 2m1½f maiden hurdle for father-and-son combination Gary and Jamie Moore.
The headstrong four-year-old was no match for Vauban when tenth in the Triumph Hurdle in March but could head back to Cheltenham for the £100,000 handicap hurdle, for which he is as short as 12-1.
His trainer Gary, who won the Greatwood in 2008 with Numide, said: "I don't know if we'll go as he'll carry a 5lb penalty. At the time it was the aim but that was an average race and the penalty seems harsh.
"He jumped better today and settled in front. He's very keen and a strong, powerful horse."
Moore pointed towards a possible crack at the Gerry Feilden at Newbury on Coral Gold Cup day this month if his charge misses Cheltenham and believes there is further improvement to be unlocked.
"He's talented," he added. "He should have won the Adonis if he hadn't made a bad mistake at the last and I was disappointed he didn't win at Kempton last time but today he's put things right."
Favourites galore
Teddy Blue contributed to a good day for punters as all but one of the favourites in the seven races went in including odds-on shot Kissesforkatie in the valuable mares' novice chase.
