The foundation of Paul Nicholls's championship-winning campaign has been horses who have exceeded all expectations and Getaway Trump, who failed to win last season, is a prime example, as his success in the novice handicap hurdle was his fourth of the year and took his earnings to just short of £100,000.

Nicholls said: "Off that mark it was a really good performance, as he just travelled and did it all so sweetly.

"He's an amazing horse as I couldn't win a bumper with him last season. We were going to go novice chasing but we might think twice and start off in a hurdle race somewhere like Wincanton – you could see him running tidy in a Fighting Fifth. He's improving rapidly."
