Galway Jack, who gave his two-legged fellow veteran Andrew Thornton six wins on the jockey's way to 1,000 winners, is wearing better than his former partner as the 12-year-old made it three wins and a second from completed runs this season.

Leading point-to-point rider Gina Andrews took over on the Caroline Bailey-trained chaser, who was improving his track record to three wins and a second from five visits having buried Thornton on his second run at the Nottinghamshire venue five years ago this month.

Andrews, riding her 24th winner under rules and a day after netting a bumper winner at Killarney, found a willing partner to hold off the harrying favourite Open Hearted in the four-runner open hunter chase.
