Nicky Henderson, the man who knows more than most about winning Triumph Hurdles, finally offered some resistance to the strong Irish challenge at the Cheltenham Festival next month when saddling the impressive Fusil Raffles to an easy victory in the 888Sport-sponsored Adonis.

Making his British debut, the Simon Munir and Isaac Souede-owned French import was cut to a general 5-1 for the JCB-backed Triumph, which Henderson has six of on his CV.

That reaction from the layers came after the 4-1 favourite shattered the course record under Daryl Jacob, who never seemed to have any worries on the son of Saint Des Saints.
