Back in the depths of winter, at Navan in November, Gordon Elliott told us Bigbadandbeautiful could have a big future on the Flat having just won a Listed bumper.

The giant grey mare looked to possess enough ability to contest the Weatherbys Champion Bumper at Cheltenham at that stage, but Elliott was more concerned about what she might do during the summer. Now we know why.

On her first Flat appearance in a 1m2f maiden, she possessed enough pace to score snugly under Declan McDonogh and justify 11-8 favouritism.
