Fritillaire battles gamely to win her third race of the season
Having not raced as a juvenile before failing to win as a three-year-old, La Fritillaire has made hay this season and gained her third win of the campaign with a gutsy success in the 2m2f handicap – rallying in the last 100 yards under in-form Andrew Mullen to get the better of Godolphin's Leoncavallo by a head.
Trainer James Given said: "In these commercial days when precocity is the fashion and horses are often judged by what they have achieved by August of their two-year-old careers, it's nice to have a mare like her who stays so well.
