Fraught flight from Ireland doesn't stop Meyler riding Home Place to success

Irish raider Home Place managed to go one better than when second at Limerick on Sunday with a comfortable success in the 3m novice handicap chase at Uttoxeter – which winning rider Donagh Meyler described as a lot more enjoyable than the flight across the Irish Sea with fellow jockey Sean Flanagan in the pilot's seat!

After the Karl Thornton-trained six-year-old had scored, Meyler told Sky Sports Racing: "That ride around was a little bit better than the flight over from Ireland as Sean piloted a little four-seater plane over with three of us on board – him, myself and Adam Short."

Meyler added with a smile and a somewhat worried look on his face: "Sean has been flying a few planes recently but I will have to think about going home on the plane with him – I might have to head to Birmingham airport and get back that way."
