Neil Mulholland's training ability was showcased with a double at Worcester, but it was second-placed finisher Frau Georgia who proved incredibly well schooled as she jumped a fence without seeing it.

Her sheepskin noseband had slipped and was blocking her eyesight as she approached the penultimate fence but, remarkably, she and Tom Scudamore were still able to complete 2m7f novice handicap and finished a length and a quarter behind winning favourite Coral.

Mulholland's luck soon changed as 9-4 favourite Translink struck in the 2m4f handicap hurdle before Ballymilan secured the double, while Ragamuffin was not far off a treble in the concluding 2m handicap hurdle when third.

The trainer said: "The noseband came up was when her head came up, before the fence it was down. It didn't make any difference whatsoever as she'd seen the fence at take-off. All was good, though. It was windy, raining and the noseband slipped, that's life. Thankfully it didn't knock her off her stride.

"It's been good day all round. Translink has done well, he seems to like the ground and he's been a nice horse for my father so I'm delighted he's won for him. Ballymilan jumped, travelled and stayed."

Old friends

Kielan Woods had ridden Zulu Dawn on all of his starts prior to Tuesday's 2m7f novice hurdle but, now as stable jockey to Ben Pauling, he defeated that rival on board Imperial Knight.
