Franconia exploded into the Investec Oaks reckoning with an emphatic win in the MansionBet-sponsored Abingdon Fillies' Stakes, earning quotes as short as 7-1 for the fillies' Classic on July 4.

With Frankie Dettori in the saddle, the daughter of Frankel was sent off a strongly backed 7-4 favourite and did not disappoint with a stylish success on just her second start.

When the question was asked of her at the two furlong pole, Franconia delivered a strong turn of foot to seize the initiative and was only extending her advantage over runner-up Cabaletta as she hit the line strong.
