Fort comes good to provide Greenall with much needed winner at local track

Every new trainer likes to get a winner on the board at their local course and Malpas-based Oliver Greenall is no exception as he ended a frustrating spell at the north Wales circuit after Fort Jefferson landed a few nice bets in the 2m½f maiden hurdle.

The five-year-old had been a 9-1 chance in the morning but was sent off 11-2 and came with a well-timed run under the in-form Harry Skelton to hit the front at the final hurdle before proving three lengths too strong for Aardwolf.

Greenall said: “We only train about 15 minutes away near Malpas so the pressure was definitely on as we have had 36 runners at the track in a fairly short space of time without a winner. But that hoodoo is now broken and we can relax about it a bit.
