Foley and Harrington continue red-hot run as Valeria Messalina lands Group 3
Jessica Harrington and Shane Foley continued their sublime run of form by landing a valuable double at Cork on Sunday, headlined by promising three-year-old Valeria Messalina prevailing in a bunched finish to the Group 3 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Brownstown Stakes.
The daughter of Holy Roman Emperor, who had come home in front in a barrier trial before winning on debut at Naas last September, proved a little fresh on her seasonal comeback in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas when ninth but bounced back to form at the Mallow venue in good style.
The Anthony Rogers-owned filly had her form boosted earlier this week when Rose Of Kildare, who just denied her in the Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes last season, won the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at York.
