While it's unlikely anything other than victory would have sufficed for 1-2 favourite A Genie In Abottle in the Listed MW Hickey Memorial Chase, there was still plenty to like about the length-and-a-half success for Noel Meade's second-season novice.

Given an energetic ride from the front in the excellent hands of Sean Flanagan, the Gigginstown-owned six-year-old kept finding for pressure, seeing off the attentions of two-time Cheltenham Festival winner Tiger Roll, who ran a cracker on his reappearance.

Wexford native Flanagan said of the 150-rated chaser: "He's a funny old sort who always holds on to a little bit. It's not that he isn't genuine, he's just lairy."
