Royal Ascot beckons for the Richard Hannon-trained Out Of The Flames after she opened her account at the second time of asking by taking the 5f contest for juvenile fillies with something in hand.

The trainer was absent but his assistant Tom Ward said: “She’s a lovely filly and will come on again for that. The five furlongs suits her and we think she’s a Queen Mary type – she’ll head straight there now.”

Hannon has been critical of the prize-money on offer at the Thames-side course but he went on to take the honours in the other two-year-old contest on the card after Elysium Dream and Ryan Moore finished late and fast down the outside to nail Angel Of The South in the 6f juvenile fillies’ stakes. The winning distance was a short head.
