Finals day aim for Arch My Boy as Smith's star shines on Flat debut

Arch My Boy cemented stable star status in the yard of Martin Smith with an impressive novice stakes victory leading the trainer to eye a tilt at the Marathon on All-Weather Championship Finals day on Good Friday.

The strapping son of Archipenko raced with significant promise in bumpers last season, culminating in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival, and scored by eight lengths on his Flat debut under Paul Hanagan.

Smith, who has 14 horses at his Newmarket base, worked for Nicky Henderson, Toby Balding and Luca Cumani among others before taking out his licence and he, along with fellow part-owner Robert Clarke, could be in for a fruitful winter with Arch My Boy.
