Fiddlerontheroof slashed for Ladbrokes Trophy after winning return at Carlisle
Fiddlerontheroof scored for the first time since November 2020 when landing a high-quality running of the Listed Colin Parker Memorial Intermediate Chase for trainer Colin Tizzard at Carlisle on Sunday.
The seven-year-old finished second in the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase at the Cheltenham Festival behind Monkfish but then finished third in the Mildmay Novices' Chase on his final start last season.
Dropping down in class, Fiddlerontheroof toughed it out to finish a length and a quarter clear of Pay The Piper after the pair drew clear of Espoir De Romay, while Ahoy Senior unseated jockey Derek Fox.

"Were chuffed to bits with him," said Joe Tizzard. "He was placed behind good horses all last season. We rate him really high and we've got a decision to make with where we go next. He's entered in the Ladbrokes Trophy and Betfair Chase so we'll have a chat about it. It might be quite tempting to take advantage of his mark of 148.
"This was a competitive race on paper and they went a good gallop, which suited him. He's took on the best but he never disappointed us. He's had a proper race but this should put him spot on now."
Winning jockey Brendan Powell added: "It was a gutsy success. He jumped and travelled nicely into the straight before knuckling down when he needed to. It was a decent race so we knew it would set him up nicely for the season and it was a nice little bonus for him to win.
"I think he'd suit a big field [in the Ladbrokes Trophy]. He's entered in that. You can pick and choose with horses like him but I'll leave that to Joe and Colin [Tizzard]. They've given me lots of confidence."
Fiddlerontheroof is available at 12-1 for the Ladbrokes Trophy with the sponsors. He is also entered in the Betfair Chase at Haydock.
