Nicky Richards took Listed honours at his local course as My Old Gold toughed it out to deny odds-on favourite Happy Diva in the Houghton Mares' Chase at Carlisle on Sunday.

The ten-year-old travelled well and held off the challenge of the Kerry Lee-trained market leader in a battle up the straight. My Old Gold stayed on best in the 2m4f contest under Brian Hughes as Chilli Filli powered home into a length-and-a-half-length second, with Happy Diva fading into third.

The win ends an 11-month drought for My Old Gold, whose last success came over Saturday's Ladbrokes Trophy scorer Cloth Cap in a four-runner handicap chase at Doncaster.
