Festival beckons for Might Bite after easy novice chase win

A true Cheltenham trial it was not, but the exciting Might Bite got his career back on track with a wide-margin win after an amble round in the three-runner novice chase. It proved that he has got his confidence back after his heavy fall in the Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day and he will now head to the festival.

Results and analysis

Sent off at 1-7 with his form head and shoulders above his two rivals', he was sent on by Nico de Boinville at the second after the trio had crawled through the early stages. He proceeded to make the rest of the running and scored by the best part of two fences from Gorran Haven, the outsider of the trio, after second favourite, Ma Du Fou, sadly took a fatal fall at the sixth fence from home.
