The Fergal O’Brien-trained Aye Aye Charlie, ridden by Paddy Brennan, advertised his claims for next month’s Challow Hurdle, sponsored for the first time by Betway, when landing odds of 1-12 in the opening novice event.

Poetic Rhythm supplied the Cheltenham trainer with his first Grade 1 success in the same Newbury feature last year and O’Brien said: “He tried to pull himself up at Aintree a fortnight ago but Paddy was delighted with him today.

"He’s still a big baby and has his own way of doing things but we’re looking towards Newbury now."
