What do you get when you put one of the best riders of front-runners in the business on a willing partner with a terrific all-weather strike rate and no opposition for the lead? A comfortable two-length winner, that's what.

Joe Fanning could not have scripted the feature 1m4f conditions race any better himself. The grey Watersmeet, whose all-weather record going into the race was seven wins and four seconds from 13 starts, was allowed to dictate from the front and he quickened readily clear straightening for home.
