Irish jumps meetings have recently formed a rather unhealthy attachment to dense fog. Most helpfully, Fairyhouse was yesterday a fog-free zone, but whether an afternoon of triple Grade 1 action left us much clearer about anything is debatable.

If there was a standout performance in the showpiece events it probably came from Drinmore Novice Chase winner Coney Island. The manner in which he moved smoothly into contention caught the eye, while the manner in which Eddie Harty subsequently raised future Gold Cup aspirations caught the ear.

He is an obvious candidate for the RSA Chase, but with Thistlecrack bound for the Gold Cup, the picture surrounding that particular Cheltenham championship is murky.
