Fahey's excellent run continues as Ruby delivers the World

The form of the Fahey brothers of Monasterevin has been one of the stories of the summer, with the performances of Peter Fahey's horses of particular note, and he kept up his run of success with the victory of Small World in the 2m5½f handicap hurdle.

The early afternoon rain eased the ground to yielding, which did Small World no harm. Ruby Walsh was able to bide his time as the pacesetters went off a shade too quickly and he looked the winner from about the second-last, ultimately putting 11 lengths between himself and front-running mare Tranquil Magic.

It was an effort which almost left Walsh wondering how he won. He said: "They went very hard in front and I was never confident. The only time I thought I might win was coming down to the last, and even then I was expecting a couple to come from behind. They just capitulated in front and let me win."
