Exmoor emerges from the mist to score for back-to-form Dartnall

Despite not visiting the winner’s circle for almost two and a half years, punters kept the faith in the Victor Dartnall-trained Exmoor Mist as he was sent off 15-8 favourite before proving the answer to the 2m2f handicap chase.

Whereas the James Best-partnered ten-year-old’s jumping stood him in good stead during the race, his main market rival Le Coeur Net threw away any chance he may have had with a series of errors and went down by five lengths.

Devon-based Dartnall has experienced a winter in the doldrums as Exmoor Mist was only his fifth winner of the term, but the stable’s horses have been running much better in recent weeks and he can now look forward to a fruitful spring.
