Everything about Sheikha Reika’s victory in the Listed John Musker Fillies’ Stakes was effortless, yet unlocking her talent could hardly have tested trainer Roger Varian more.

She was a winner on her first start this season, but the wheels came loose when Sheikha Reika reared over in the stalls at York in May, a mishap that left mental scars rather than physical ones, and much work has been done to restore her confidence since.

"She’s talented but unfortunately she flipped over in the gates at York and it took her a long time to get over that," said Varian.
